Injured Snake

If you see a snake that is injured:

  • Cordon off the area - Remember to keep a safe distance from the snake because it may feel threatened
  • Provide shelter from the sun where possible - Snakes are susceptible to heat exposure if their injuries do not allow them to move out of the direct sun
  • Keep children and pets away from the injured animal - Dogs and cats may be curious or aggressive towards snakes
  • Watch it from a safe vantage point - Ideally watch it from an elevated platform
  • Contact a qualified person to remove the snake - If possible have somebody other than the designated 'snake spotter' make the phone call
